The picturesque city of Akureyri is lovingly nicknamed the “Capital of North” is the second largest urban area in Iceland after Reykjavik. Built along the fjord (Eyjafjörður), Akureyri offers a mild climate and beautiful, picturesque landscape.
Across the fjord you will find a historic landmark marked by a large stone and anchor. Icelandic folklore suggests that this is where the Vikings originally landed in Iceland! On this beautiful property now lies Knarrarberg, a newly built wellness center and event hosting property designed specifically to welcome yoga, movement and other healing groups & retreats.
The center offers a large meeting space / yoga room fully equipped with yoga mats, blocks, straps and blankets. The room can be heated for heated practices. The center also has male / female showers & changing rooms, a relaxation room, dry sauna and outdoor geothermic jacuzzi. There are 3 massage rooms and various massage therapies available.

Participants of retreats stay in centrally located shared apartments or hotel rooms. The modern apartments are just a few blocks from the city center and are the nicest in Akureyri. Each apartment has 2 or 3 rooms, kitchen, living space and private or shared bath. Apartments also have access to backyard jacuzzis tapped from the volcanic geothermic waters below.
